Yamaha lugs?

yeah, i mount my drums from the stand. but i don't what it is about the deeper sizes. i ended up returning the whole kit last night. i just couldn't make it work for me. also, some of the nouveau lugs 'buzzed' a bit. esp. the 12" i'll tell ya, my wife was happy that i returned it. it's all good. oh well i guess that's how you learn.

i'm sure you knew this, but don't ever use the makit a to put a head on, only to take off. one of the guys at drum dr. told me you can strip your t-rods / lugs easily that way.

I don't know what kind of torque the dude at drum doctor thinks a 9v makita makes?? But I've been taking off and installing my heads that way on my Pearls since the 80's!! Never stripped one yet!! Guess it takes a "mechanics" touch. [img]wink.gif[/img]

Yeah.... I got the whole "resonation" shpeal from people at Yamaha when I ordered my drums. I spent the whole day at Yamaha trying different heads/drums combinations (i.e. maple kick/birchtoms, maple absolute vs maple absolute neuveau, custom maple toms/beech bassdrum, different heads, etc). I didn't really see an advantage with the neuveau lugs. The only reason I ordered them is because I would have gotten the drums faster in the sizes I wanted vs getting them with the standard lugs. I have a 9v makita drill with a lug socket, so head changes are a snap regardless of lug type, so that's not really a selling point for me either. The button they use to mount the lug to the drum shell is a fastener that has been used in aircraft/airframe for years. It's really sturdy and can take alot of tugging/torque put against them. But they're usually mounted within metal. Not sure how they'll "live" in wood over years and years of use??

Hey Chuch?? Do you mount your toms on the B.D.?? I purposely ordered stands to suspend my toms so I could offset them from the standard B.D. mount position.
